Resources

Vector Solutions’ accredited EMS continuing education helps EMS professionals across the country recertify and maintain licenses. Accessible through the TargetSolutions training management platform, these online courses are frequently updated with refreshed content, videos and case studies.

This round of online course updates focuses on advanced training topics for paramedics. A new course title, Advanced Considerations in EMS Response to Mass Casualty Incidents, covers critical actions for EMS personnel to prepare for (and respond to) a mass casualty event.

Advanced Considerations in EMS Response to Mass Casualty Incidents

The first actions are critical for the safety of responders and the lives of many patients. Advanced Considerations in EMS Response to Mass Casualty Incidents explains considerations that will help responders manage uncommon, but critical, mass casualty incidents that may occur.

Lessons in this new EMS course utilize video animations, current data and best practices. Key topics include planning, equipment and supplies and the importance of tactical training. This course was designed to complement and add to the material discussed in the Basics of EMS Operations at a Mass Casualty Incident course.

Updated Paramedic Continuing Education Courses

In addition to releasing a new course, Vector Solutions updated several other advanced EMS titles in its training catalog. These courses are part of Vector Solutions’ course library that’s approved by CAPCE for continuing education.

Each course was modernized with engaging interactions, custom videos and refreshed lessons. Below is a description of newly updated EMS training for ALS providers:

Intraosseous Infusion Advanced describes multiple methods of vascular access that work across a diverse patient population. Intraosseous access and infusion are an effective, rapid, life-saving method of vascular access for patients for whom standard peripheral intravenous cannulation is difficult or unavailable for any of a variety of reasons.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis Advanced highlights the pathophysiology of DKA and the practical guidelines for assessment and management of patients when DKA is suspected, including a special consideration of pediatric patients. It also compares DKA with another similar diabetic emergency: hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS).

Pediatric Burns Advanced provides a refresher for ALS-trained individuals and explains the scope of treating pediatric patients with burn injuries. Lessons cover the anatomy of the skin, burn depth and severity classification, assessing the extent and impact of pediatric burns and other considerations.
